Open Graph Checker

Open Graph online meta tag generator for social networks

What is Open Graph?

Open Graph is a micro-markup standard for creating site page previews in social networks. Open Graph was developed by Facebook specialists so that links to sites within the social network are displayed beautifully and are informative. Now Open Graph is supported by many social networks: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki, and messengers, for example, Telegram and Skype.

Why use Open Graph?

  • so that the user can see relevant text and images on the link preview
  • to improve the site's behavioral factors, a properly designed link will collect more traffic
  • to make the link snippet look like a separate post on your page or in the community, you don't need to add a description or images

To get a beautiful site snippet, insert the Open Graph meta tags in the <head> tag in the page code. Micro-markup elements can be divided into essential and additional elements.

Main:

  • og:title - page description
  • og:type - object type
  • og:image - URL of the image to be displayed in the snippet
  • og: url - the object's URL.

Additional elements make the preview more informative: you can add a language, contacts, or address.

You can read about additional elements on the developer's website https://ogp.me.

Twitter has its requirements for snippets. Do you need unique tags?

Almost all social networks support the Open Graph standard. Our tool has unique options for Twitter.

How do I change a snippet after publishing it?

Rights to edit it. If you change the meta tags on the site, previously published snippets in social networks will not change.

Why is the image not displayed in the snippet?

All social networks have their image size requirements. It may be that your image doesn't fit or weighs too much.

Can I use multiple images?

You can, but only one will be displayed when you publish it. You can choose it yourself.

Does a correct snippet for social networks affect SEO?

Snippets in social networks affect behavioral factors: properly designed links get more likes and traffic to the site.

I have a site on a ready-made CMS. How do I make a snippet correctly?

Most popular CMS systems have plugins that allow you to embed Open Graph markup without getting into the code.

If the site doesn't have social buttons, will Open Graph work?

Yes, but we recommend installing social buttons on your site so that users can share your content on social networks.
